New Year's Resolutions for Puppies
January 1, 2021

Happy New Yea r! Are you starting the new year out with a puppy at your side? If so, you’ve got a fun year ahead of you. This is a crucial stage in little Fido’s life! Your furry friend has quite a bit on his to-do list for the next 12 months. A local vet lists some of the things your canine pal wants to accomplish in 2021 below.

G row

Dogs grow very, very quickly in that first year. You’ll need to provide Fido with proper nutrition to fuel that big growth spurt. This is super important! Any nutritional imbalances now can lead to big trouble down the road Ask your vet for advice.

Learn To Be A Good Boy

Man’s Best Friend is very loving and loyal, but he needs a bit of guidance. Some education is definitely on your furry pal’s agenda for the coming year. In addition to housebreaking and crate training, you’ll need to teach your pup basic commands, like Sit, Stay, Come, Heel, and Lay Down .

Explore Everything

Our canine companions definitely have a taste for adventure. Little Fido will be very curious about the world! Let your pooch investigate new parks and trails this year.

Figure Out What Tastes Good

Little Fido will be very interested in, well, eating things. He’ll also chew quite a bit, especially as his teeth come in. These things make for a dangerous combination! Keep your furry buddy safe by doing some basic petproofing. Remove or secure anything that could be dangerous. Some potential hazards include toxic plants, plastic bags and ties, chemicals, medications, wires and cords, personal items, shoes, pieces of clothing, and anything small or sharp.

Charm My Vet

Little Fido should come in a few times this year. We love watching puppies grow from bouncing balls of fur to happy, healthy adult dogs! Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule.

Make New Friends

Socialization is crucial to your dog’s physical and emotional development. Introduce your canine buddy to lots of new people, and let him interact with other pooches. Just be sure to follow social distancing protocols!

Play!

Having a puppy is really fun! Fido’s adorable toddler phase will be over all too soon. Enjoy this stage in your cute pet’s life, and indulge those adorable requests for playtime.
