If your pet could talk, you’d never have to worry about missing the signs of an illness. They could simply come to you, tell you they weren’t feeling well, explain their symptoms and show you exactly where it hurt. Unfortunately, this is not possible, so it’s up to us to be able to recognize the signs that something may be wrong, and take the appropriate measures to address the situation in a timely manner. That’s where veterinary diagnostics come into play.
With many illnesses and injuries that can affect our animal companions, a physical exam isn’t always enough to reach a definitive diagnosis. In these cases, our doctors must be able to look below the surface and learn what’s happening inside your pet’s body. Veterinary diagnostics are tools that enable us to do just that, so that we can accurately diagnose whatever is ailing your pet in a timely manner.
Ceres Veterinary Clinic utilizes a broad range of routine and advanced diagnostic tools to help us stay on top of the ongoing health of our patients and provide the highest level of care available. Our hospital is equipped with an on-site laboratory which allows us to run a wide variety of diagnostic tests and retrieve the results quickly – often before you and your pet ever even leave the exam room. For those tests that require more extensive analysis, we work with an outside lab that we trust to provide us with speedy and accurate results.
Most diagnostic tests are performed in house, by our own doctors. But when required, we will refer to specialists outside of our clinic. For instance, we work with a board certified cardiologist as well as a board certified radiologist, who are available to provide their expert opinion on cases that require more in-depth analysis.
If your pet hasn’t been acting like their normal, healthy self, and you can see no outward evidence of what’s bothering them, it may be time for a diagnostic analysis. Rest assured that whatever is ailing your animal companion, we’re well-equipped and fully prepared to get to the bottom of it so we can have your pet back on the path to good health again as soon as possible.
